INTRODUCTION TO BEADWORK BASICS BY With Love Crafts

This is the first pattern in a series we call beadwork basics, BB1, and is a simple ball and loop fastener that we include in most of our Jewellery kits. We like to think of this series as a lesson in a bag. Beadwork Basics is a series of designs based on classic stitches presented in manageable format especially with the beginner in mind. We have tried to be original and build on this so that the designs increase in detail as the series progress. While the kits come in no frills packaging as we try to keep costs as low as possible, there is no expense spared on the quality of the seed beads and bugles which are Japanese and produced by Matsuno.

People who are totally new to beading can experience a new craft without outlaying the small fortune it costs to purchase the basic items to start any new craft. Beginners’ kits start at £3.50 and everything that is required for the chosen project is included in the kit, so if you hate it, you have not lost a fortune.

The bulk of the cost is for the beads included in the pack with a very small additional charge for everything else that is included. Typical contents included in a beginner’s kit are shown below in the first part of BB2, which is lesson 2 and costs £3.50.

Beads included in the kit for the sample pattern shown are enough to make both a necklace and a bracelet with beads left over, which is typical of most of our jewellery kits.
